Golden Glider Is An Underdog With An Experienced Trainer

Belmont Longshot Golden Glider Trainer Has Faith In Belmont

Mark Casse is Golden Glider’s trainer, and won the 2019 Belmont Stakes with Sir Winston.
Golden Glider has the second longest odds (+2000) but has been declared in for the upcoming race.

NEW YORK – The Belmont Stakes take place on June 11 at 5pm with a few set favorites, but Golden Glider may just be the perfect underdog.

As with all of these Triple Crown races, some of the horses have not been confirmed to take place in the Belmont Stakes. Have caution when placing early wagers on these horses.

Odds To Win Belmont

(In) Mo Donegal +300
(In) Rich Strike +350
(In) We The People +350
(In) Creative Minister +500
(Maybe) Nest +800
(Maybe) Ethereal Road +1000
(Maybe) Skippylongstocking +1100
(Maybe) Barber Road +1600
(In) Golden Glider +2000
(Maybe) Kuchar +3300

Golden Glider may have the second longest odds in the Belmont, but his trainer has a strong belief that he has what it takes to finish first.

Mark Casee Is A Winning Trainer

Casee has not finished first in the last four races, but has been getting closer to having Golden Glider finish on top, with a second-place finish in the Peter Pan. However, Casse did finish first in the Belmont Stakes with a horse name Sir Winston back in 2019, under similar circumstances, showing the potential for winning when he is the trainer.

“We’re going to try to follow the same path we did with Sir Winston,” said Mark Casse. “He ran second in the Peter Pan then went on to win the Belmont. We’re going to try to do the same.”

Sir Winston had 10-1 odds when he won the Belmont in 2019, showing that Casse is a trainer who is not unfamiliar with the underdog role. Betting on Golden Glider at +2000 would certainly result in a high potential payout with a trainer who has been there before.

With these current legal betting odds, $10 could turn into $200, making it a very low risk bet with a high reward. Even if taking a bet on Mo Donegal, the betting favorite, one could still drop a small amount on Golden Glider, hedging wagers for the race.
